Hey rockers and welcome to this week’s rock news roundup! Check below to see what your favorite rock artists are up to this week.
Disciple dropped their new single “Resurrecting Reasons” featuring TJ Harris of Decyfer Down off of their upcoming deluxe version of “Skeleton Psalms”. Check out the music video for it below. The original version of the song was already amazing, but TJ adds another layer to it that turns it up a notch. I had never noticed just how well Kevin and TJ’s vocals complement each other until now.
No Treaty dropped a lyric video for their song “Pages”. Check it out below. If you find heavy metal to be difficult to listen to like I used to, you should read the lyrics and go see the bands live…you may just change your mind the same way I did. No Treaty is doing what few bands in the scene are doing. They go hardcore when it comes to taking theological and faith stands. They don’t shy away from tough subjects, nor do they pull any punches. This single is no different. Right out the gate in the opening lines “As I read through Your words, I’m confronted again by a verse I don’t agree with, and I cannot accept. So tear another page out…”. This song reminds us how easy it is to try to make excuses for our sin or to ignore what the Bible says. In their own words from their social media they have this to say. “Compromise has no place in God’s Word. It’s all true or none of it is. It holds all the answers for life and godliness or none at all. If one verse is ignored, they all might as well be. Facts over feelings. Truth over lies. Jesus over everything.” And I couldn’t agree more!! Thank you, No Treaty, for being so unapologetic, standing on the word of God, and being one of the bands that has helped reshape my musical tastes. (along with other bands like Convictions and Heal the Hurt)
Magdalene Rose shared a music video for her new single “Hey at Least I’m Feeling Something”. On social media she said “Blaise Rojas and I filmed/edited this entire video by ourselves so it could have that homemade look…”. She succeeded in that, and it reminds me of home movies from my childhood in the 90s/early 2000s. I find it very nostalgic! And as I said last week, I truly appreciate Magdalene Rose bringing this vulnerable subject to light in her song. For more info about the song, check out her video here!
Nate Parrish shared a music video for new single “Small”. I think it was very unique to use cardboard cutouts. I especially loved seeing small cutouts of himself. “I need some new words, cause I can’t speak. I need a resurrection, cause this is killing me. And I want to feel alive.” I love the idea of needing to recognize what we were made for and who we should depend on. On his social media he had this to say “I wrote this song feeling utterly overwhelmed by the weight of life, feeling like I needed to carry all of it. I needed to rely on something bigger”. Kingdom Come Festival has shared their headliners for each night this year. Amazing lineup all around, you can check out the festival’s social media to find who will be there! The Saturday headliner blew my mind, and if you didn’t catch it when I shared the post before, the headliner is Nine Lashes! Now if you’ve only been in the scene for the last few years, you’ll be scratching your head. But Nine Lashes was a big part of the rock scene in the early 2000s. Their last show was nine years ago and it’s great I get to be part of rock history yet again. (Just like with Pillar, Flyleaf, Kutless, etc) To find out more about what Nine Lashes is up to, check out their video here!
