Hey there, and welcome to a new weekly article where I will take you through my highlights from each week. I hope these will help you start to pick through the tidal wave of new releases each week and find some new music and artists to love, all the while while I enjoy myself with the unprofessional punny intros and highlighting good Christian music. The best day for these to be posted will be sorted out over time, as will the format and some other details, but let’s get to last week’s music shall we?
Top New Releases (in no particular order)
Look! The Damaged Aklesso Creeps down the Narrow Road to ask for Help in finding his Destiny, saying Woe Is ME as he’s Drinking Alone in Loner, the (excellent) first part of the journey…
(and, yes, that’s the level of intros you can expect from me! Sorry not sorry!)
BODEGA 2! season is upon us! Judging by how much this has been on repeat since last Friday, it’s safe to say I’m fully okay with that! Take it away DJ Mykael V…
Sam Bowman and GLADDEN really are a bunch of Misfit Toys. Wait, what’s that? You want proof? So be it! Listen below and hear for yourself!
(Sam wrote some cool text about the song for JesusFreakHideout, you can read those words here.
RED ALERT! Six Feet Deep and Xander Sallows are about to satisfy your ears…
Dude, Jesus Loves U…is the 2nd track on Light The Way’s new Expel album. I don’t know what took me so long to get aboard the Light The Way train, but this Lazybones is finally on board!
This is my first time hearing of Held By Trees (what a beautiful name!) but I want to hear more after this collaboration EP with Martin Smith! The first two tracks have such a real ethereal beauty about them, and the third is a really fun effervescently bouncy track. Ok, well I’ve used up all of my intelligent words for this week’s episode now so back to playing on words again…
Oh, My Love, You Deserve to Lay Your Troubles Down and listen to this…
Collington’s soul-searching music continues to blow me away; his effortless emotive storytelling against a rallying alt-rock soundtrack makes Do You Really Love Me an instant favourite. I knew he was going to be good from the moment I first heard his music and interviewed him many years ago, but he’s easily exceeded those expectations! Read more here.
Odds of An Afterthought explore Where Dreams Go To Die on their new ‘get-the-pulse-racing’ metalcore EP.
It’s time to welcome a new Storyteller into the Christian world! This is a really strong debut from young Australian artist Faith Kayrooz.
The pop-punk princess Grace Graber released the worshipful More Than A Miracle ft. Jonathan Cyphers. Find out more here.
There’s just time to highlight seven more CHH releases…
Nu Tone x Thi’sl x Tds Cam – Time
Phathom x Datin x Jae Miilz x Dj Mykael V x RJ Payne x C4 Crotona – Safehouse
This goes hard!
nobigdyl. – EVEN LOWER (EP)
nobigdyl. just went and dropped 3 unreleased songs on us out of the blue. Ah well, no big deal…I’m not complaining!
Red Tips – we the light
“Even when the lights out, even when it’s nights out, you can still see us”
Bizzy Cardoza & Sevin – Grave 2 Tha Cradle
Above the Clouds x iNTELLECT x Griffin x Kair One – The Product
Old style hip hop at its best!
Canton Jones x Remix Worship x Urban D. – Faith In You
Really like the words in this one, and it’s good to hear Urban D. back in my headphones!
And finally…want some new worship music to put on in the background? May I recommend LIFE Worship’s Stones of Remembrance – Vol.1 album? LIFE Worship is the worship ministry of Philippa Hanna’s home church Life Church in Bradford, UK. Check out the brilliant None Like Jehovah as a taster.
Top Music Videos
Christmas music this early? I heeeear ya, but hear me out…you won’t hear a better Christmas song this year. Oh, and one more thing…THAT VOICE! This is simply stunning, great work Natasha & co! The rest of these videos may also be in no particular order as above but make no mistake about it, this is the top video this week!
(Also, does anyone know how they managed to plug those Christmas tree lights in in the woods?!!)
Lathan Warlick’s still here despite depression and anxiety…as am I! Need a chill country tinged rap anthem as your soundtrack to overcoming depression and anxiety? Look no further! We’re glad you’re still here Lathan!
Brandon Lake’s also singing about a Hard Fought Hallelujah with that beautifully raspy voice of his…
Limoblaze says it’s My Time in this roundup, and as it’s hard not to get caught up in the groove of his music, who am I to argue with him? Enjoy…
Time to turn that dial up to eleven and get heavy for a couple of videos…
Confessions Of A Traitor – Doomsayer ft. Exist Immortal
Nesdam – Plastic Crown
Be sure to check out Katie’s latest Rock News Roundup article for more awesome rock goodness!
I’m not sure if this rocking video from SafeKept is actually in this roundup or not, it could just be Smoke & Mirrors…
“Hell shakes when we sing your praise”
Love those words from Garrett Hornbuckle’s swashbuckingly new Hell Shakes single. (having looked up the meaning of swashbuckingly I probably should remove it but we’re just going to go with it ok!)
Ok Miles Minnick, CJ Emulous and Tommy Zuko, go ahead and Drop It!
We round out the new videos section with 808 Beezy’s new Marathon Mondays video. Subscribe to his YouTube channel for the rest of the series.
The “Throwback Video That’s Been On Repeat” Section
You know those songs that once they’ve entered your ear canals you can’t stop listening to them? Nor do you want to! Yeah this is one of them. Ear candy at its finest! I’m a big fan of all of Beckah Shae’s remixes (and that voice of hers!), and a lot of them have been playing in the background on my tv lately but that’s due to this one every time at the moment!
Right, c’mon people, come join us on the dance floor two-steppin’ on the devil!
The “I Missed This Last Week” Section
Ok, so my excuse for missing this in last week’s article is…there wasn’t an article haha! But I wanted to highlight this as a feature going forward, and highlight this release a week on (well two weeks at the time of writing!). I was all over this deluxe album from Forrest Frank, and it’s so cool to see how many other TENS OF MILLIONS people are also resonating with, and all over, his music! Praise The Lord!
The “How Ridiculous and Dude Perfect” Section
Can the How Ridiculous boys reach new dizzying heights with their literally explosive Rexy custom clothing? You can get yours here (that Tyre hoodie looks sweeet!).
aaaaaand that’s a wrap on the first edition of Mossy’s Highlights. I will keep it to top 10 new releases from next week onwards I think! Also, if someone fancies “forcefully borrowing” the paint explosion thumbnail from above and photoshopping that onto a picture of my head instead of my “lack of hair”, holler at me for a picture of my head! And, yes, my increasing “lack of hair” is why I called this Mossy’s Highlights. It amused me.
Anyways, I hope you’ve found some good new music above! Please be sure to share this with anyone to share the “I’ve found new music I love” joy around, and let me know what you loved most from last week’s new releases!
You can see all of last week’s new releases in our list here, and all of last week’s new videos here.
See y’all next week. Keep groovin’ and God bless!
