Allie Crummy To Release Third Album Earthly Next Month
Allie Crummy is releasing her third studio album, ‘Earthly’, on September 1st, 2023. Allie is a deep thinker who doesn’t like to write fluffy lyrics, and ‘Earthly’ is no exception. With songs that are lamentations about losing friendships and a sense of belonging (“People Change”, “Where To Go”), or a song about the hope for the future that comes from learning from past mistakes (“I Know Better”), and even a breakup song that expresses the raw feelings of walking away from a damaging relationship (“Hard Time”), ‘Earthly’ is an album that is deeply spiritual and also deeply human.
“I am a Christian and I am also a human,” says Allie. “I write songs about both, because those aspects of myself are deeply intertwined. I can’t separate them.” Allie finds inspiration from the psalmists, who expressed all of their feelings to God, as well as from Jesus, who lived a fully human life and also was divine, showing that spiritual holiness does not have to be divorced from the created world or the human experience.
‘Earthly’ draws on influences from a variety of Christian writers. “Life Is Stronger” is based on a quote from Henri Nouwen. “Serenity” is based on the extended version of the Serenity Prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr, and speaks of embracing our limitations as humans; which is a theme that carries into “Can I Just Be Weak”, an indie-rock anthem for anyone who has ever felt the pressure to always have it all together.
‘Earthly’ releases on September 1st everywhere you stream music.
