Rock News Roundup 159

Hey rockers and welcome back to this week’s rock news roundup! Check below to see what your favorite rock artists are up to this week.

John and Korey Cooper (of Skillet) and their family saw Sound of Freedom in theaters. Sound of Freedom is a movie based on a true story of how Tim Ballard (Special Agent for DHS/ICAC) rescued children caught in child trafficking. Please see this movie for yourself and then look into the facts surrounding child trafficking and human trafficking in general to draw your own conclusions. I saw it myself and I think it’s the most needed movie of my generation. However, it’s not for everyone. Young children/survivors may want to rethink seeing it, and it does have a PG-13 rating. For myself, I can count on one hand how many times I cried at a theater, and this movie is one of those times. But this film is extremely eye opening and the world needs to see it. Check out John Cooper’s post about it here! And finally, please pray for the men, women, and children caught in human trafficking, and pray for those who are doing everything they can to stop it from happening. #EndIt #GodsChildrenAreNotForSale

Thousand Foot Krutch (TFK) posted to their social media a photo with the number 5. This is the first post in a while of something new from TFK, and man does it feel amazing to include it in this week’s roundup! I feel like many of the bands I grew up with who left the scene are now making a comeback. I’m sure there are many of you who are as excited to find out what it means as much as I am! Check out their post about it here. While on the subject of TFK, it just happens to be Trevor McNevan’s birthday today, so let’s all wish him a Happy Birthday!

Theody released their latest single “Defiant”. “I know how you play the games, sowing doubt inside my brain, and now it’s personal!” Check it out below!

CJ English (formerly of GFM) announced the drop of her own patreon and website. Check out her post about it here, her patreon here and her website here! In her bio on her website it states “CJ has now branched out on her own and is enjoying a successful career as a solo artist.” So ya’ll tell me how hyped up should we be? Because let me tell you, I’m pretty hyped! I’m excited to hear what else she has in store for us!

Counter announced they are coming out with a new single on July 21st called “The Darkness”. Check out their post about that here!

Lacey Sturm released a music video for their latest single “Reconcile”. Like the “Awaken Love” music video, Lacey’s use of symbolism and storytelling is clearly seen throughout this video. Utterly breathtaking! Check it out below! (side note: I loved seeing Josh, Krislyn, and Jon in the video too!)

The Word66 came out with a music video for their song “The Chosen One”. In the about section of the video they have this to say about the purpose of the video. “Steve portrays a savior making the rounds to save those in need of salvation. The moral of the video is that it is never too late to be saved. The ending suggests that all is forgiven, with so many more to come, as they are headed to the kingdom of heaven.” Check it out below!

Seventh Day Slumber shared about an amazing opportunity their bassist Ken Reed has right now. Ken is filling in for Kelly Clarkson! Check out the details here. Congratulations Ken, it is so well deserved!
