Does anyone have a friend that loves you unconditionally, but will also tell you when you suck? That was Paul for us. Paul gave Christian his first snare drum. Someone had handed it down to Paul when he was younger, saying he would know when to pass it down to the next generation. He told Christian the same thing when he gave it to him.
We lost Paul about a year and a half ago to cancer. He was only 39, and I (Meredith) often felt that he lived 80 or 90 years within those 39 years. The highs and lows that this man went through, there was no middle ground. So the lyrics “Some people live it all in a little time, their soul was worn, it was meant for the other side” were based after him.
The trio have since released their new single Refuge.
