Aryn Michelle has just released a new single, “America,” the first of a three-song EP to be released over the summer. It’s an astute observation on the state of the world today. In America, the focus is all about image. No one wants to post an imperfect picture without a filter, or post about real life when we can make our lives seem polished and perfect. We idolize models and superstars, and care more about what others think of us than we do about striving to do what is right in the eyes of God. As Aryn Michelle sings in the bridge, “where’s the truth, where’s the life, where’s the way?” We’ve become so fixated on crafting our personal “brand” for the world to see that we’ve neglected The One who is The Way, The Truth, and The Life.
The music itself has kind of a bluesy/folksy/pop vibe, beginning with the gentle timbre of the Hammond organ supporting Aryn Michelle’s soulful voice. A moment later, the drums and bass kick in, providing an animated groove for the song. “America” has a fun beat, with bluesy guitar solos throughout. It’s a very well written song, and we look forward to seeing what the rest of the EP holds.
