Throughout January, I am studying the book of John. I have been learning to walk in the freedom of God’s truth. One verse that came up in my devotionals was John 8:32. Jesus said, “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Another was John 8:36, “So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” We are living in a time where everyone is searching for the truth. We want to know what is true and what is not. The problem is, we are searching for the truth in the wrong places. We cannot trust the things of this world. But there is one person, who was, is, and will always be the living truth.
Jesus, the Living Word, is the truth, and He spoke the truth, and we can trust Him 100%. We want to know who and what we can believe. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6). The truth we need most is Jesus. When we choose to accept and trust Him, we walk in the freedom of His truth. Jesus is the one who frees us from our past, bondage, the lies of the enemy- all of it. I am still learning to do this myself; it is a lifelong journey. I want to start fully walking in the freedom of God’s truth. Jesus will never lie to us, and He will keep every promise He has made to us. We can trust Him.
Take it from Shay, make today the day you surrender to God and start walking in the freedom of His truth. Don’t for a second think your past is too dark for Jesus. Bring your past, sins, and shame to the Light who offers Life. Who the Son sets free is truly free.
