Take It From Shay: The Walk of Faith

Take It From Shay: The Walk of Faith

This post is long overdue; nonetheless, Happy New Year everyone! The past couple of years have been challenging to say the least, but we know God is still good and still in control.

With a new year comes the dreaded list of New Year’s resolutions. Most of us made a list of things we want to accomplish this year. One goal may be to lose weight; another may be to change jobs or even work on our mental health. Whatever we have listed, we would like to see it get done this year. Here is my thing, every time I make a new years resolutions list, it always gets forgotten about not long into the new year. I know I cannot be the only one. So rather than making a ton of resolutions I probably will not be committed to keeping, I want to accomplish this one goal and allow everything else to fall into place.

The most important goal I want to work on this year is to be intentional in my walk with God. I want to truly trust in the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit and their truth. There were so many times in the past few years where I would be doing good but then slack off and become distant.

What God has reminded me of recently is that it is not about daily checking things off like reading the Bible, praying, etc., yet, being with Him. When we check off these daily tasks, we think of our relationship with God as a chore. That isn’t at all what it is. Our relationship with God is about acknowledging Him throughout our day, taking the time to be in His presence.

2022 is the year I want to be the most confident in God that I have ever been. Besides, without Him, we cannot accomplish all we want to this year and in the years to come. Take It from Shay, let this be the year you fully surrender it all to God, your sin, burdens, past, worries, doubts and fears, and instead truly lean on the Father to help you. Trust in the truth that Jesus speaks about in the Gospels. Stand confident in His promises and have faith that He will do what He says. Pray to God for what you need, thank Him for it, stand on His Word and watch Him work! Happy New Year friends!
