Singer-Songwriter Eliza King Releases Honest New Single ‘Feel Holy’
‘Feel Holy’ is the latest single from Christian singer-songwriter Eliza King. Eliza is based in Brisbane, Australia, and writes reflective devotional music with strong scriptural references meant to inspire and challenge the listener. This latest release is certainly set to do both.
‘Feel Holy’ is Eliza’s 3rd single of 2021 and the second of a 6 track EP being released over the next 10 months, ‘A Fire Making Holy Ground.’ Though still a devotional worship song, the lyrics of this track are far more personal and thought-provoking in tone, meant to prompt reflection and even conviction.
Eliza wrote this song from a very honest place, describing her journey as a Christian who grew up in church, but experienced burnout and wrestled with drifting away from the true heart of worship. The chorus lyrics, ‘All the little things I do when I want to feel holy, when I want to feel whole,’ confront patterns of Christian thought and behaviour relatable to many: self-righteous motives, misplaced priorities, and empty spirituality. In repentance and honesty, the track leads lyrically to the abounding grace available to us as Christ followers, and finishes with a short musical epilogue about recommitting to faith.
Musically, ‘Feel Holy’ continues to build on Eliza’s sound as an artist and her previous release, ‘Risen Man.’ It combines ambient vocals and soft felted piano tones with engaging percussive builds.
