Joshua Scales’ new EP Clarification drops Sept 25.
Scales is a Christian hip hop artist and vocalist from Dayton, OH. He’s also an advocate for mental health awareness after dealing with his own battles with depression and developmental delay in school.
Joshua Scales has been rapping for 15 years. He started as a young kid with poetry in Elementary School and it evolved from there. At the age of 14, Scales’ godmother gave him a T-Bone album and it was at that moment, he knew he wanted to speak truth like him.
Although Clarification is Scales’ first EP, he’s been collaborating with other artists such as Doctrinn, Rapture Ready, Mikayla, and Gigi. He also runs his own management group, Positive Light Music. His desire is to build up other artists and help them grow in their talent.
Clarification runs the gamut from RB to rap. Loco! is fun with catchy beats and quick rhymes, while #MemoryLane is a throwback to Scales’ love of R&B.
#MemoryLane was written after Scales was looking through old family photos. He was born with congenital heart disease and considered failure to thrive. This song is his declaration of gratitude that God saved his life.
The song Clarification is full of emotion and it’s obvious in the heavy music behind Scales’ rhymes. It’s a statement that he isn’t stopping and he isn’t quitting.
