Running Club Records are delighted to announce the signing of Junior Garr – already a much loved and well respected worship leader, with a strong catalogue of genre-crossing music, a distinctive vocal and a committed following of those who identify with his core value of unity.
‘Waters’ – out now – is the first single to be released by Junior Garr on Running Club Records, arriving against the backdrop of his previous independent releases and his curated worship gatherings the ‘Selah Sessions’, highlighting him as an experienced leader in the local church. As he’s honed his unique creative artistry, musicianship and leadership over a number of years, he has simultaneously been writing songs which present a genuine picture of his relationship with God.
Junior’s heart is for people to see the beauty of God though a multicultural expression of worship. This first single explores our collective identity as children of God, in synergy with the scriptural use of water for cleansing and healing. It carries a strong sense of our belonging in a garden-style paradise where we truly come alive, and its lyrical and sonic metaphors are reflected in the stunning cover art. This beautifully represents the holistic nature of Junior’s work and worship, and will form the foundation of a series of visuals supporting the forthcoming EP, which stand as pieces of storytelling art in their own right. The images depict the profound messages of each song in a way which ties together words, melodies, scripture and imagination.
Chris Lawson Jones, Head of Running Club Records, says, “As we extend the Running Club family, we are proud to have Junior come on board, and privileged to be part of his exciting future. With Junior’s addition, our roster of musicians represents a breadth and depth of style and influences which we feel really encouraged by.”
Following on from ‘Waters’, Junior’s subsequent releases will build towards the full EP, ‘The Garden’ (due out in October 2019), which is set to offer a revelation of heavenly ideas brought to earth.
