1Whoever loves money never has enough;
whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income.
    This too is meaningless.
11 As goods increase,
so do those who consume them.
And what benefit are they to the owners
except to feast their eyes on them?
Ecclesiastes 4

It’s all about money in this world.  Everything revolves around it.  You’ve gotta have it to buy food and pay bills.  Yes, there is a degree of need to it while your soul resides here.

For your happiness though?  No, money will never fix that.  Money can’t cure sadness or deep depression.  We see that proven time after time.  Maybe on your shiny new TVs money seems like it makes those feelings of distraught disappear by evidence of all the gold covered shining stars that live in decadence.  It is not true though, and we have seen that quite clearly.

The problem is there is no such thing as enough.  When you consume money to ease your hunger, it does not fill you up…it makes you even hungrier than before.  Your belly can not be filled.  You will never have enough.  That is how you can see people with 10,000 wish for 50,000, people with 50,000 wish for 100,000, people with 100,000 wish for 1 million….and people with millions wishing for more millions.

I have seen a grievous evil under the sun:
wealth hoarded to the harm of its owners,
14     or wealth lost through some misfortune,
so that when they have children
there is nothing left for them to inherit.
15 Everyone comes naked from their mother’s womb,
and as everyone comes, so they depart.
They take nothing from their toil
that they can carry in their hands.

There is one redemptive quality of money in all its destructive ways.  The fact that you can give it.  Money was not given to us to keep and hoard and please ourselves with our mass quantities of it and what it can purchase.  No, money was made for us to give away.  God doesn’t need money.  If we decided money was worthless today, it would be so.  God gave us money as a way of giving to others.

Money was created to give away.  That’s why it hurts you so much when you keep it too long or keep too much of it.  After all, you can’t even take it with you when you leave this world.  The only thing you can take is your soul.  Your soul must be the most important if it is the only thing that can cross worlds into eternity.

Your soul is more important than money.  Your peace, love, and joy that come from your soul are all more important than money…all of those things that come from inside you that you can give to others.

18 This is what I have observed to be good: that it is appropriate for a person to eat, to drink and to find satisfaction in their toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given them—for this is their lot.

Do not worry about what you don’t have.  Worrying about money and desiring it can make you sick and leave you empty.  It was created to give away.  Look for opportunities to give away instead of take away.
