Christmas is nearly here, and along with her bill on the KLOVE Christmas Tour, Nashville based pop/worship artist Sarah Reeves has us primed for a good time with her boppy EP Let It Snow. If you’re looking for a mix of classic carols with an original, poppy sound then this is a go-to for your holiday playlist.

“Christmas In The Air,” is a perfect Christmas pop tune. A catchy base line and hook that will stick in your head for days gives it a quality that transcends the holiday season. The lyrics are quintessentially all things Christmas—from cinnamon cloves to a break down of “Deck the Halls,” but to put it simply—it’s a bop. And it’s got more soul than the classic pop go-to of “Last Christmas,” which makes it a winner.

Adding her own to spin to “Let It Snow,” a retro weather report and stereo emphasize how classic the fun tune in. Sarah’s vocals are pure, pop perfection with a hint of a groove, and the combo of the traditional tune with pop sensibilities makes it a welcome addition to the EP. After 2 and half minutes, you realise just how short this carol is, which makes the repetition of the verses and chorus a little long to fill a four-minute song. But if you can’t enjoy repetition of some feel-good lyrics at Christmas, when can you?

Finishing with “Angels We Have Heard On High,” and we are given a standout track and a new take on a tried and true classic. A fast-paced track accompanies the song, and cuts before Sarah breaks into the traditional, “Gloria in excelsis deo,” highlighting just how unique and beautiful her voice is.

Production is excellent throughout, giving just the right amount of momentum to the chorus where Sarah breaks down, “glory in the highest.” The modern and classical elements juxtapose beautifully, and you will want this one on repeat.

Bridging the gap between traditional Christmas carols and modern pop-based versions, Sarah Reeves’ Let It Snow is short and sweet. Recounting the spiritual and sentimental value of the season with a voice that could match any on the radio, it will be a favorite with fans new and old.
