Microclusives: Opening the Book

First & foremost, I’d like to take this moment to thank Iain for allowing me to come on board with this fantastic group of contributing Christians. This is going to be something a little bit different for me & I welcome this challenge. Now that that’s out of the way, let me introduce myself. My name is Mike Geiner & I am from a small town in Pennsylvania called Altoona. I am as previously stated a veteran; I served for two & half years in the United States Navy. I spent most of my time on shore duty in Japan & the last half in San Diego, California. Ok enough of that as we should get to the reason of this post. I’m not the greatest person at sharing who I am but recently I came across something that I felt would be a way to help change that. I’m going to limit this to ten personal questions. So please enjoy & even take up the challenge of doing it yourself!

Question One: What sin(s) have you overcome?
Answer: When I was in high school, I became a heavy porn addict. My life revolved around it. I would spend more time trying my next fix rather than being a true Christian. I would go to church on Sundays & Wednesdays but live like the world even right after.

Question Two: What unexplained thing has God done in your life?
Answer: My easy answer is that, while praying over it, I felt lead to join the military. I grew up with a curiosity about it. But always undersold myself as I felt like I wouldn’t be cut out for it. Yet He granted me two & half years of service that I’ll never trade.

Question Three: Have you ever been baptized?
Answer Three: Yes. BUT with a twist. I’ve been baptized three times. I was baptized at three years old when I was growing up Lutheran. The second time was when I was eighteen & my church I was attending youth group at was doing a service for anyone who wanted it & understood what it meant. The third time was when I was twenty-one & I was returning to church after a hard time in my life.

Question Four: Who are your favorite writers/pastors?
Answer: I am one who doesn’t rely on a lot of writers & pastors. But when I follow some, I like the likes of Ravi Zacharias & Desiring God.

Question Five: Have you ever read the whole Bible?
Answer: Yes I have. If I recall, three times actually.

Question Six: What are your spiritual gift(s)?
Answer: When I was in my tenth grade year of high school, I discovered that I had a knack for writing poetry. I use that & later discovered as well, I was really good at songwriting so I do that as well.

Question Seven: (Not a question!) Post some of your favorite bands!
Answer: Demon Hunter, RED, Thousand Foot Krutch, Skillet, Impending Doom, Righteous Vendetta, Love and Death, & Prepared Like a Bride.

Question Eight: What are some things in your life you need to let go of?
Answer: I have trust issues at times with certain things as a result of my past. Until my current relationship, there’s only been one other relationship I’ve had where I’ve never been cheated on. Otherwise in every relationship I’ve been in, I’ve been hurt. So now I’m wary of who I trust.

Question Nine: Do you know what God has called you to do?
Answer: The easy answer is I can say is I’m still waiting for him to reveal it. The hard answer is that I feel like I’m called into music in some way. In my free time, I volunteer for Winter Jam Spectacular Tour when it comes through my area & I’ve fallen deeply in love with doing merchandise for the bands. So that makes me feel like that’s where I’m called to be. As well as with my love of songwriting- I would love for bands to record the songs & make royalties off that.

Last question, Ten: What does it mean to follow Christ?
Answer: I will try my hardest to not give the typical cliché Christian answer & give my own thoughts of it. To follow Christ is that everything in your life reflects Christ. Putting your wants, desires, & anything that you can put before Christ & to make everything in your life revolve around what He knows is best for us.

If you’ve stuck with me for this long through these questions, I’d like to thank you for taking the time to do so. This I felt like would be a good way to open up to you all. I pray some, if not most of these questions may help you examine your own walk. If you need a person to talk to, I’d like to offer that my Facebook is open, as well as my Instagram. Thank you once again everyone & I look forward to working with any of you readers, bands & anyone else who comes this way. With that said, welcome everyone to ‘Microclusives’!
