Marquis Boone Enterprises (MBE) and Tyscot Records are gearing up for the live recording of their 18 year-old electrifying recording artist Kelontae Gavin. Gavin is set to record his debut live project THE HIGHER EXPERIENCE (MBE/Tyscot Records) this Friday, April 14,2017 @7:30 P.M. at the Fresh Start Church in Duluth, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. The upcoming live recording will be produced by Gavin’s label head and manager Marquis Boone (Casey J, Briana “Bri” Babineaux) and TedyP (Micah Stampley, Briana “Bri” Babineaux). The project is tentatively scheduled for a Fall 2017 release.
Lauded by music critics across the country, Gavin has already received stellar mentions. One of the nation’s top newspapers The New York Times declared Gavin as “a live-wire prodigy” (goo.gl/HHZVFK), while his hometown newspaper, The Summerville Journal Scene states, “His composure as he performs and wisdom about why he loves music gives off an air of quite confidence” (goo.gl/VY23Dd).
Budding music executive Marquis Boone, Founder and President of Atlanta-based entertainment company Marquis Boone Enterprises, LLC discovered and signed Gavin to an exclusive recording contract last year and released his first single to gospel radio and to digital music outlets with the release of his debut studio single “Higher” and November 2016 EP release of the same name.”Higher” debuted at No. 23 on Billboard Magazine’s Top Singles Sales chart alongside music legends such as Kanye West, Alicia Keys and the cast of the Fox Television musical drama series “Empire”. Grammy Award winner Myron Butler produced the inspiring mid-tempo tune that was written by Gavin’s mother, Priscilla F. Smalls.
The EP features four versions of “Higher” (a studio version, reprise, performance and instrumental track) and a fresh rendition of the Rev. Paul Jones composed hymn “I Won’t Complain” – the song that catapulted Kelontae Gavin to social media stardom three years ago when he was just 14, was filmed singing the popular song (that is performed at various African American churches nationally) by a lunch lady in his school cafeteria which to date is closely reaching 1 million You Tube views and has laid the foundation for Gavin’s singing career. Gavin made his national television debut performing “I Won’t Complain” in November 2016 on cable network BET’s Sunday weekly morning inspirational show Joyful Noise that is hosted by acclaimed Two-Time GRAMMY winner Tye Tribbett.
