The Phoenix, AZ based hip hop artist Gospel Lee has just released his new music video for “Far Away.” The music video, which was directed by Greg Dunnaway, can be seen above.
“Far Away” is a song which intensely chronicles Gospel Lee’s internal struggle & journey through depression. “This song almost didn’t make the album, but we realized that it was a story that needed to be told, and so we were really glad to have a visual that conceptualized the dark place I came out of,” Lee states.
“Far Away” is off Gospel Lee’s latest EP entitled Brilliant which released August 2015.
About Gospel Lee
Gospel Igwe is an individual who deeply believes in “bringing light to dark places” through culturally-relevant, God-honoring Hip-Hop as “Gospel Lee.” He has spent time carefully crafting his raw, energetic, emotional sound into one of unbridled passion; as heard in gospel lee’s razor-sharp, rapid-fire delivery. His sound possesses a progressive sense of responsibility that is completely unashamed. His custom delivery evokes the passion of NF mixed with the boldness of Lecrae.
Gospel Lee translates this custom delivery and relentless passion into profoundly simple lyrics that birth conscious thought in the listener and foster meaningful questions. The lyricism of gospel lee in a live context is a high-energy, expressively emotional experience that is raw, yet vulnerable without abandon. Another element that distinguishes his live show is his uncanny freestyling prowess, composing entire songs from audience-selected topics spontaneously. At its conclusion, there is nothing left on stage except sweat and broken pretenses.
In 2015 Gospel Lee released his sophomore EP “Brilliant”, which earned him his first Billboard debut on multiple charts. “From the cover art to the last song, it’s the best thing we have ever done and a great example of God’s faithfulness” says Lee about the new project. It is this belief in “bringing light to dark places” expressed through the art of Hip-Hop & emotionally honest lyricism that has allowed Gospel Lee to open up for some of his inspirations and influences such as: Switchfoot, Manafest, KJ-52, Trip Lee, and most notably Grammy Award winning artists Lecrae & Tobymac. Gospel Lee is a native of Oklahoma but currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona.
