Internationally acclaimed recording artist Jean Watson recently attended the 2016 National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Proclaim 16 International Christian Media Convention which was held Feb. 23-26 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, TN. During the event Watson met with media and industry leaders to discuss her upcoming worship CD.
Watson was kept busy during the 4-day event, being interviewed by such influential outlets as
Cru/Campus Crusade for Christ, Bill Martinez Live!, Invicta Entertainment, New Life FM in Atlanta, The Shaun Tabbat Show, MRG Media and Reach to Touch, among others.
“I am so thankful I was able to attend NRB this year,” Watson said. “What a blessing to connect with so many people who have a heart to communicate the love of God to the world! It was great to be able to share my story and music with people from all over the country in one place.”
Watson’s highly anticipated 8th full-length album, her first worship focused CD, is slated to release this summer from Shadowlands Music through New Day Distribution. The as-yet untitled project features an abundance of Watson’s signature haunting vocals, and offers fans the special treat of guest artist appearances by Tree63’s John Ellis and contemporary Christian music legend, Michael W. Smith.
“I’m incredibly excited about this new project,” declares Watson. “It’s the first time I’ve done a completely worship-focused project, and I believe it conveys the most authentic ‘Jean Watson’ sound I’ve ever created.”

About Jean Watson:
Born into a musical family, Jean Watson’s classical training began when she was still a young child. Early on, she displayed an affinity for the violin, but as time passed she became equally recognized for her wistful, ethereal vocals. As an adult, music was set aside for Watson to focus on her responsibilities as a wife and mother. Her marriage ended in divorce and she found herself in a time of deep depression and hopelessness. At her lowest point, she cried out to God. She experienced a remarkable breakthrough when her landlord gave her rent money back and said she needed to record an album. The rest, as they say, is history.
Watson can be heard worldwide on UCB Radio Ireland where she hosts a daily inspirational radio program, Jean Watson, which she records from her Michigan home studio. Watson has logged thousands of miles traveling to perform churches, prisons, coffee houses, homeless shelters and concert halls. When she is not on the road, she plays violin in the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra.
Watson has performed on CBN’s The 700 Club, TBN’s Praise the Lord and LeSea Broadcasting’s The Harvest Show, Cornerstone TV’s The Living Room Concert Series, TV 57’s Babbie’s House and Life Today TV with Randy Robison, among many others. She has been honored four times as the Best Female Praise and Worship Artist USA by the U.K. Christian Music Alliance.
Watson is married to Mark Roberts, a chaplain in the United States Air Force. She lives in Lawton, Mich., and has four children: Charlie, Andrew, Grace, Katharine, daughter-in-law Emily, and grandson Chase. For more information on Watson visit jeanwatson.com.
