Dove, Grammy, Billboard and American Music award winners Casting Crowns are well known for their inspirational, and family oriented music. With each album, the band’s songs become more and more relatable. Their latest project A Live Worship Experience captures the inspiration of their favorite songs with the beauty of worship.
The album begins with a beautiful cover of the classic hymn “At Calvary.” The song talks about how without God people were living for themselves, with no motivation to do well. The song then talks about how our souls found freedom and liberty at Calvary.
The band covered the current popular worship song “Good Good Father” The original was done by Chris Tomlin, but this performance adds a unique twist that is quite different from the original. The song is a song of praise to God for being such a good father to us. No matter what, through the highs and lows, God is an amazing father.
“Great Are You Lord” is another cover, with an original Casting Crowns twist. The harmonies between Mark Hall and the audience members add a special element to the song. The song is another song of praise just glorifying God for how great He is. The calm, reflective nature of the song really gives listeners the chance to reflect on the meaningful lyrics and praise God.
In terms of original songs, the band included many of their favorites on the album. Tracks include “Just Be Held”, “Thrive”, “Jesus, Friend of Sinners”, “You are the only one” and “The Well”. Each song holds the well known, and loved lyrics, but the live worship experience adds a new excitement and energy.
“Here’s My Heart” is a song currently being covered by many artists. From Crowder, to I Am They, and even Lauren Daigle many artists have recorded the song and put their own unique twist on it, and Casting Crowns is no exception. The lyrics and melodies may be the same every time, but once again Casting Crowns manages to put their own unique take on it with their phenomenal harmonies.
“No Not One” is another song of praise. The song talks about how there is no one greater then God. He gave us all that we have, and is the reason we are here. The upbeat, passionate vocals really add energy and excitement for listeners that provides a really genuine worship experience.
“Called me higher” is a really interesting song, which is really a call to action for listeners. The song talks about how as Christians, we could be safe and rest in the love and comfort of God. But really, as Christians we should be stepping out of our comfort zones to serve God, because he is calling us higher than our comfort zones, and to let Him lead us.
Overall Casting Crowns has created another staple album for Christian music fans. From the classic Casting Crowns favorites, to the covers of newer worship songs, they hit a home run with every single track.
