Singer/Songwriter Chris Whittington Leads Devotions at KSBJ Radio

Eclectic and innovative Texas singer/songwriter Chris Whittington recently dropped by the studios of Humble, Texas-based radio station, KSBJ, where he led devotions and shared his new radio single, “Sing With All The Saints,” with the KSBJ staff.

“The people at KSBJ are why it has impacted so many lives,” says Whittington. “Their genuine concern for their community shows through their programming and their massive prayer team focus. They welcomed me and allowed me to share my music and message with their staff.”

The new single, which is currently being serviced to Christian AC and CHR radio stations by A-Sides Radio Promotion, appears on the singer/songwriter’s debut CD, Bright Portal.

Whittington opens the tune with plaintive acoustic guitar strains, then shifts gears, employing classic Byrds’ guitar licks with fuzzy, electric sitar-esque strings and beckoning mandolin. He invites his listeners not only to experience the music, but also to participate in it by weaving in traditional hymnody language to connect generations of worshippers to this compelling call to worship,

“‘Sing With All the Saints’ is an early Christian classic,” Whittington explains. “I’ve rewritten the melody for a modern audience. It deserves to be known and its truths celebrated today.”

About Chris Whittington and Bright Portal:
Texas-based singer/songwriter Chris Whittington recently released his debut EP, Bright Portal, a collection of melodic, guitar driven tracks woven with symphonic overtures and lyrics planted in the truth of Scripture. Produced by contemporary Christian music pioneer Kemper Crabb, the project has garnered acclaim from both fans and industry insiders.

Crabb’s influence is readily apparent in both the music and lyrical content of the project, as the aural flow ranges from sparse acoustic guitars to lush orchestral underpinnings. Whittington draws on classic, traditional and contemporary influences that invite listeners to not just experience the music, but to participate in it.

“Somehow Chris always brings a spirit of unity and fresh air to the table…’Sing With the Saints’ is all you need to love this collection! Deep reverence and melodic joy from a humble servant…My only criticism–need more of it,” says Garett Buell, percussionist, Caedmon’s Call.

Whittington, who has shared the stage with Crabb and Caedmon’s Call, was featured in the highly successful PBS television special, Downe in Yon Forrest: Christmas from the Middle Ages, where he shared lead vocals with Crabb. The television special attracted more than 165 million viewers nationwide.

In addition to his musical talents, Whittington is a successful businessman. He is the founder and owner of Whittington Steel, a Texas-based steel company. Whittington and his wife, Joanne, have four adult children: Lindsay, Lauren, John and Leigh Ann. The couple celebrates 36 years of marriage in 2015.
