According to this interview with Tauren Wells in the Battle Creek Enquirer from earlier today, Royal Tailor have broken up to pursue other projects, with frontman Tauren Wells set to pursue a solo career and focus more on his personal ministry. It also says that Tauren is currently in talks with Provident Music Group over a record deal and is about to travel to Nashville to work on new songs and start the process of narrowing down over 50 songs he’s already written for his debut full length solo album and picking 5 songs for his debut EP.

Below is part of the section of the article specifically about Tauren pursuing his solo career but be sure to head over to the Battle Creek Enquirer article to read the full story and find out more details. At the time of publishing this story, there hasn’t been an official announcement from either Royal Tailor or Tauren Wells himself but we expect those to come in the coming days so stay tuned for those.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Royal Tailor for all the awesome music they’ve made over the years and we wish you all big success in your future individual endeavors! I personally would also like to thank you for making one of my favorite songs “Ready Set Go” and for all the effort that went into making the accompanying music video (below). Thank you and God bless you all!

But for Wells, it has always been about more than the music and, in the midst of the band’s success. he made a dramatic decision and broke up the band so he could concentrate on a solo career and his ministry.

He said he’s in the middle of negotiating a record deal with Provident Music Group, a division of Sony Music, for his first album.

He’s traveling to Nashville next week to work on new songs and then hopes to pare them down to 11 for the album. He’s planning five other songs for an EP.

Wells said the band break-up was difficult for all involved but necessary in his development.

“My family growing and other aspirations,” he said. “The liberty that comes with being a solo artist is something I’m going to need.”

He said his bandmates and friends have already moved on to new projects.

“The guys are doing some pretty cool things, too,” he said. “They’re amazing and definitely finding their place.”

Wells has written 50 songs for his solo album and he hopes the EP will provide the brand he’ll need to make a name for himself.

“It’s a huge step,” he said. “I wouldn’t even call it a step, I’d call it a leap. But it comes with really cool opportunities and obstacles.”
