“Your Own Backyard,” the second single from LaHaie’s critically-acclaimed CD, Ahead, continues to impact listeners via radio, television and now on the Internet via his newly minted lyric video for the song. Fans can check out the new video below…

The sparkling light rock anthem, which went for adds at Christian radio on March 10, 2015, quickly proved to be a fan and programmer favorite, landing at the No. 1 position on the CRC Weekly chart for the week of April 20. “Your Own Backyard” follows in the footsteps of the first single from Ahead, “Unqualified,” which was a steady fixture on the Christian Radio Chart’s Top 10 in both 2014 and 2015.

Written by LaHaie, along with Grammy-nominated songwriter Jeff Pardo (Mandisa, Francesca Battistelli, Kutless) and Grammy Award-winning engineer Andy Hunt, “Your Own Backyard” is a call to look beyond our own little world and see beyond the edges of the Kingdom where the gospel has never gone before.

LaHaie says the concept for the song came from his own need to look beyond the “white picket fence” mentality that places comfort and safety above the reckless abandon of the call of Christ. “What can we do to move the hearts of Jesus’ followers to take the gospel to those who’ve never heard it before?” he muses. “I just know that if you and I are given a vision of a life different from that, a life of adventure, of sacrifice, of being a part seeing God’s Kingdom break into places where there’s only chaos, then some will rise up and go.”

LaHaie shared his thoughts with songwriters Pardo and Hunt, Pardo picked up his guitar and started hammering out a chord progression and the lyrics spilled out naturally.

Maybe there’s more than your own backyard, LaHaie croons in his husky tenor. Maybe there’s more than your neighborhood.

“It’s in the DNA of every follower of Jesus to be a blessing to the nations,” LaHaie explains. “The heartbeat of Jesus, who laid his life down for the nations, is in us! My dream for ‘Your Own Backyard’ is that it would ignite a fire in God’s people to fulfill their destiny to bring the gospel to the nations.”

In addition to being a singer/songwriter and radio personality, LaHaie is a sought after guest on a number of local, national and international television shows, including LeSea Broadcasting’s The Harvest Show and Cornerstone TV’s Real Life, among others.
