Eclectic singer and songwriter Chris Whittington recently attended the 2015 National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) convention held Feb. 23-26 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. During the event, Whittington met with media and industry leaders to discuss his debut CD, Bright Portal.
Whittington was accompanied by his friend and producer, Kemper Crabb (Caedmon’s Call, Radiohalo, ArkAngel). While at NRB, they met with numerous media and industry contacts, including legendary guitar virtuoso, Phil Keaggy, who Whittington counts among his musical influences.”NRB 2015 was a great experience,” says Whittington. “I really enjoyed all of my interviews, and getting to meet Phil Keaggy was a special treat.”
During the 4-day event, Whittington was interviewed by CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ), MRG Media, On Faith’s Edge, World Christian Broadcasting and REV Media, among others.
Bright Portal, the artist’s debut CD, is a collection of melodic, guitar driven tracks woven with symphonic overtures and lyrics planted in the truth of Scripture. Produced by contemporary Christian music pioneer Kemper Crabb, the project has garnered acclaim from both fans and industry insiders.
“Somehow Chris always brings a spirit of unity and fresh air to the table…’Sing With the Saints’ is all you need to love this collection! Deep reverence and melodic joy from a humble servant…My only criticism–need more of it!” says Garett Buell, percussionist, Caedmon’s Call.
“Chris Whittington’s music flows with all the lushness of Eden, but remembers that we are still living east of there. Thoughtful, evocative and moving,” says author and theologian R.C. Sproul Jr.
