Jeremy Camp is a man of many talents. When you hear his name many things may come to mind: Recording Artist, Ordained Minister, Author, Worship Leader, Husband, and Father… He does it all. Despite the variety of roles he plays, none of them suffer due to his wide variety of talents. This long lasting, deep talent and passion for God is clear throughout his 8th studio album I Will Follow.
“Living Word” gets the album off to an energetic, passionate start. The song talks about finding truth and freedom in the word of God. Jeremy’s passion and energy for telling others about the word of God can definitely be felt throughout the song.
The title track “I Will Follow” is filled with the classic Jeremy Camp style that everyone knows and loves. The song talks about following God no matter what the circumstances. “You have my heart, I will follow all the way.” These lyrics really hold the truth that God holds our hearts, and as Christians we are to follow him for as long as we live.
The first single off the album “He Knows” has seen tremendous success all over the US and can be heard on most radio stations, and it will only take new listeners just one listen to understand the success. The song talks about how God knows everything, and how that can help us when we are in need.
“Finally Home” opens with a fun poppy feel which continues throughout the song, where Jeremy talks about what he will do when he gets to heaven. “I will be dancing free, unashamed before my king, when I am finally home.” These lyrics really demonstrates Jeremy’s excitement for heaven, and how everything will be perfect when we get there. It is a great reminder for listeners that heaven is worth waiting for.
“Christ In Me” is a cry out to God to fill our lives with Christ and Christ alone. “So come and empty me, so that it’s you I breathe, I want my life to be only Christ in me.” Jeremy so beautifully plainly sings this statement that encourages us as Christians to sing along with the same desire.
“‘Til The End” and “Here I Am” are both very powerful songs that are meant to reassure Christians and provide encouragement during those seasons of difficult times.
“Cant Be Moved” celebrates the fact that as Christians we belong to a kingdom that is solid, and will never be moved. “When everything in this world is falling, we have a kingdom that can’t be moved.” These lyrics really solidify that idea for listeners that the world around them may be crumbling and falling, but they can rejoice in the fact that they belong to a everlasting Kingdom that will never fall.
“Only In You” and “Same Power” celebrate the strength and power we find from God and God alone. These songs talk about how there is nothing on earth that will give us the same everlasting strength, happiness and power that God can give us.
The deluxe edition of the album includes “Spirit Now” which is a cry out to God for more of him, and to feel his presence with us. The next track, “Be Still,” is a powerful, and emotional track that exudes worship and listeners won’t be able to listen to this track without praising God. “Perfect Love” talks about the perfect love God has for us. The deluxe edition of I Will Follow also includes beautiful acoustic versions of “He Knows” and “Here I Am.”
Overall I Will Follow is a great album full of emotional, worship, and soul-filled songs. The album follows Jeremy Camp’s style from previous albums that is loved by many, but still has a fresh sound and theme that keeps people’s attention. I Will Follow will not only attract legions of new Jeremy Camp fans, but it is sure to attract many more awards and accolades for Jeremy Camp as well. In short, I Will Follow is simply a must buy for fans of Jeremy Camp, and it may just be his best album to date.
