The Las Vegas Mass Choir’s signature vocals were featured at half-time during last night’s Cleveland Cavaliers season opener against the New York Knicks, the first game of basketball great LeBron James’ new contract with the Cavaliers.
The critically acclaimed gospel choir is part of a new national television ad for Sprite, which pays homage to James on the eve of his first game back in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. The commercial, which began airing earlier this week, features the brand new single, “I Bet My Life,” from Grammy award-winning group Imagine Dragons, with background vocals by the Las Vegas Mass Choir. The commercial was shown to the hometown crowd during the half-time festivities at last night’s game.
Multi-award winning Las Vegas-based indie rockers Imagine Dragons, who are known for blending engaging, synth-based dance-pop with emotionally charged Brit-pop-inspired alt-rock, released the self-produced single this week. “I Bet My Life” is the first music to be released from the Las Vegas quartet’s upcoming second album, which will be released by KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records in 2015.
“We were happy to bring a little bit of the soul of Las Vegas to the world by collaborating with the Las Vegas Mass Choir on our first single,” says Imagine Dragons.
“‘I Bet My Life’ is HOT!!!” says Las Vegas Mass Choir founder James R. Smith. “Thank you to Imagine Dragons, Sprite Company, LeBron James and of course, the Las Vegas Mass Choir!”
The Las Vegas Mass choir has earned accolades from a variety of sources, including influential entertainment reviewer Robin Leach, who referred to “the gospel power of the Las Vegas Mass Choir” in a recent review in the Las Vegas Sun.
