Capitol CMG Label Group celebrated nine Dove Award wins at last week’s 45th Annual Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards. The label garnered wins in the top categories of Artist of the Year – Hillsong UNITED, Song of the Year – “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail),” Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year – Overcomer, Praise & Worship Album of the Year – Kari Jobe Majestic. Walking away with a total of five Dove Awards, Hillsong UNITED won in every category in which they were nominated. Additionally, Hillsong was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. An award presented annually by the GMA, this special recognition is given to individuals and/or entities that have had a significant impact on the Christian and Gospel music industry. Representing UNITED and the Hillsong Church at last night’s awards were worship leader Jonathan Douglass (JD) and Steve McPherson, Manager of Hillsong Music Publishing.
Capitol CMG artists that were nominated for this year’s Dove Awards were newcomers Hillsong Young & Free who were recognized with four nominations, Colton Dixon received two nominations for his hit single “Never Gone,” and Passion received two nods for their project Passion: Take It All. The GMA Dove Awards were held in Nashville, Tennessee at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena. The show will air on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) on Sunday, October 12th.
