Two weeks ago, Colton Dixon, the 19 Recordings’ Dove Award-winning artist and Season 11 American Idol finalist, released his highly anticipated sophomore album, Anchor. In its first week out, the album debuted at No. 1 on four charts, taking the top spot on both the Christian/Gospel Album and Digital charts, the Christian Rock/Alternative Album chart as well as on the Contemporary Christian Album chart. This makes Dixon’s second No. 1 album debut.
On release day, August 19, Anchor quickly climbed the iTunes overall albums chart to No. 4 and remained in the Top 10 throughout street week. The album’s first single “More Of You” continues to receive multiple adds every week and is currently No. 3 at Hot AC, as well as Top 20 in both AC Monitored and AC Indicator.
Along with Dixon’s New York City media blitz last week, where he visited with ABC News, Fox News, US Weekly, Breathecast, Christian Post, performed on Fox & Friends and more, Dixon has also been featured in USA Today, on Fox 411 and in The Hollywood Reporter, to name a few.
With comments such as “Colton Dixon is the real deal,” to “Anchor…finds the pop rocker at his best” to a fan exclaiming “this will be the only thing I hear for weeks,” the reviews for Anchor have been a good indication to the immediate success of his sophomore effort.
