Earlier this week I heard an analogy that made me think about the role God plays in my life. This particular analogy centers around a car.
I’d like you to imagine your life as this car. And now I’d like you think about where Jesus is…
Is He outside of the car and out of sight?
Is He in the car but locked in the boot? This is where He is until it’s time to come out for church on Sunday morning. This is also where He returns as soon as service is over.
Is Jesus perhaps in the car with you but as a back seat passenger that you don’t really pay attention to?
Is He a front seat passenger? You see Him and might even acknowledge Him…
Or is Jesus the driver of your car?
If He is anything but the driver then I pray that in time He will fill that role because, God knows the plans He has for us (Jeremiah 29:11) and nothing is impossible with Him (Luke 1:37).
If God is already driving though, let me ask you this: are you a passenger or are you still making suggestions on the route God has chosen for you?
If, for example, God takes the next right down the road of generosity, what will your reaction be?
Or if He decides to take a left down forgiveness lane, will you protest and ask why?
Remember, God knows the plans He has for you (Jeremiah 29:11).
Let Him take control. Let Him drive because with Jesus at the wheel, we will see many great things that will lead us to the greatness He has for us.
It is to Him we belong and only by Him can we achieve what has already been written in heaven.
“Lord, my life is not my own, to You I belong. I give myself to You… I give myself away so You can use me”.
May you be blessed this week as you take your rightful seat in your car.
