We live in a world where there are various versions of what is right. What was wrong yesterday does not seem so wrong today. People no longer adhere to the “norm” because what may not be acceptable today would probably be hailed tomorrow. What is wrong here is virtually acceptable elsewhere. Something is right when it is done this way with this person at this time but in a different scenario, it is not right. Double standards everywhere. What is right is relative these days; there’s no absolute in our time.

That is why it is imperative for us as children of God to get wisdom.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding”- Proverbs 4:7 (KJV).
Wisdom which is Christ Jesus (since Christ is the Wisdom of God) is the only standard we can use to be absolutely sure that we are at right standing with God. What is considered right by society is no longer a safe option to choose. People now term certain habits as right or wrong according to how convenient it is to them. And when certain influential social stakeholders support a cause, the morality of it is usually ignored. We tend to conform to what the majority accepts as okay.

What we think may be right may not be right in the sight of God and as Christians, we do not live to please the world but to gain God’s approval. We were created to do His will and His alone. The world thrives on compromise of values and principles which they term to be as “evolution of society” but abiding by wisdom does not tolerate double standards. It is either white or black, with no shades of grey.

Do not follow what is generally described as ‘relatively right’ anymore; do what is wise.
