Jonny Diaz writes some of the sweetest songs! “More Beautiful You” and “Other Guys” are additions to my playlist that never fail to make me smile when I feel down. Also, I got to hear a live-stream of a concert he just did here with Unspoken, and it was awesome! Jonny is such a lovable guy, and I dream of meeting him someday.
I loved every song on his new album, Let It Fly, and I sure hope all of you get the chance to check it out. It’s pretty much my favorite album at the moment (and definitely a steal for the meek ten dollars that it costs!).
“Use Me Too” is a song all about asking God to use you just like He used Mary to bring Jesus into to the world, David to beat the mighty Goliath, and everyone else that did the so-called “impossible” through God. Basically, this is the prayer we should be praying everyday, because really- who doesn’t want God to use them to do amazing things?
“Thank God I Got Her” has honestly been stuck in my head ever since I heard it on the live radio stream. It’s a song Jonny wrote for his wife all about the things he doesn’t get about her. Every husband needs to play this song for their wife! It’s completely adorable, honest, and fun! I love that he put this on the album, because it’s so cute!
Another one that Jonny wrote to his wife was “Hello L.O.V.E,” which has also been stuck in my head since I heard it. It’s all about the first date, what he expected, and what actually went on. Long story short, it’s one of the most adorable songs ever! Props to Jonny for being a great songwriter!
“Scars” was a song of encouragement for me, because when it came out as a single, I was struggling a lot with closing up and not telling anyone about how I really felt, and this was a reminder that it’s normal to have scars- that I don’t have to hide them. It’s a completely honest song of struggles that cause scars, and besides that, the song is really good, so you HAVE to hear it!)
“Starts With Love” has to be in my top three. It makes you think, it’s catchy, and it has an awesome message. I feel like, as Christians, we need this kind of thing in our minds; if we remember that we need to love and what that looks like, we would be much happier people. This song discusses the way love acts, looks, and begins. I love, love, LOVE this song!
I fell completely in love with this album. Jonny Diaz continues to bring awesome music and messages to the Christian music industry. If you’re considering buying the album, go for it! The work put into this album is very noticeable, and it’s a pleasure to be reviewing an album by Jonny. Keep up the good work, my friend!
