All Sons & Daughters, a band consisting of musicians David Leonard and Leslie Jordan, have been planting their musical gifts into the hearts of many people since their formation in 2009. In only a short number of years, so much progress has been made! Their new self-titled album comes out May 6th, and in October, they will be touring with Crowder. WOW!
They kick off the new self-titled album, out today, with a song called “You Will Remain.” One word came to mind when I heard this song – sweet. It’s a sweet melody with sweet words. I enjoyed listening to this song, and I’m going to have to find some chords for this song so I can play it ASAP! Basically, this is one of my favorite songs at the moment.
“Tonight” is a song of prayer and comfort. It’s fun and a little upbeat. It has a way of making you sure that it’s okay to let go and be free in Jesus. Any song that gives off that vibe is rare! This song is delicate, but powerful. When you get the chance, sit down, close your eyes, and listen to this. You’ll be glad you did!
“God Is With Us” made it into my top favorites off the album, and a lot of it was the uniqueness of adding a cello to the song. Besides the great instrumental features, the prayer inside the song will catch your heart. I absolutely loved every single part of the album, and every lyric is bound to be a comfort to your soul!
“The Victory” is also a top song on the album, and is a hopeful tune with the theme of – you guessed it – God’s victory! These are my favorite words of the song:
“Let the oceans roar,
mountains bow before you!
Now, we lift up our praise;
God, whose marvelous name
is high above it all!
Victory is yours, Lord!”
I mean, guys – how amazing are those words?
“We Give You Thanks” is a humbling song about bowing down and giving thanks to God. I think we all need to hear this one. Pride needs to be forgotten sometimes so we realize how much we need God. This song is an anthem for this idea!
The final song, “More Than Anything” ties in with the album very well, saying that nothing compares to the love of Jesus and that we need Him more than anything. I love how they picked this one to end the album, because it is the perfect message to send to people – and a lovely one at that!
Overall, I loved this album. It’s perfect for study nights, as All Sons & Daughters‘ style is easily comparable to that of the band The Civil Wars. I think it’s quite nice to listen to, and soothing. I like the way that the music was fast-paced in some songs, but at the same time still conveyed the acoustic/low-key theme. I recommend this to everyone, and it’s truly a blessing to be able to hear the work done on this album!
