He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat? He saith unto them, how many loaves have ye? Go and see. And when they knew, they say, five, and two fishes Mark 6:37-38 (KJV).
We have all been born with something; a gift, a talent. Some are discovered very early, others are slowly uncovered with time but no one came to this earth empty-handed. Some talents are more appreciated than others no doubt; some have the power to take you places and meet people you never imagined possible. Some are made to be glamorous-for the spotlight; others not too much. But they are all needed to make the world as beautifully diverse as it is today.
As we grow up and discover who we are, we are sometimes made to forget what is hidden inside us and look for what is ours in someone else’s gift. We sometimes feel our gifts are not enough to change the world as we wish, so we are tempted to go and look for some elsewhere. But today the Lord is asking, “How much do you have?”
He is Lord of all, He doesn’t need to go look for additions before He blesses it for you. He just wants you to surrender what you have in your hand to Him and He will multiply it for you. Whatever that you have, no matter how small and insignificant it may seem, do not hesitate to take it to Him. Only He has the power to multiply your blessings and gifts.
Go ahead and do your sowing and watering but leave the growth to God. He will use your talents to influence many more people than you can do by your own strength.
Don’t forget to show someone love today; after all, we are in the month of love.
