Jimmy Swan, creator and executive producer of the His Kids United CD series, the first release of a music brand for kids ages 5-14 that features kid-sung versions of today’s top Christian hits, including “Overcomer” by Mandisa, “Shake” by MercyMe, and “Speak Life” by TobyMac, recently attended the 2014 International Christian Retail Show (ICRS) held in Atlanta.
Swan, who was at the conference to promote the His Kids United CD series, which launched in April, met with and/or was interviewed by numerous media outlets and ministries, including Family Talk with Dr. James Dobson, Life Today TV and more.
Swan also used the industry forum to announce the name change of the CD series from His Kidz United, with a “z” to His Kids United with an “s.”
“After launching the first couple of CDs, we learned through market research and feedback that having ‘Kids’ end with a ‘z’ complicated some aspects for the sales and marketing teams,” Swan says. “It’s still early in our long term goals for the CD series, so we are using the traditional spelling going forward.”
Swan, an industry veteran, says he was excited to share his new project at ICRS. “I have been attending GMA, CBA and now ICRS for the last 20 years,” says Swan, naming various Christian industry conventions. “For the first time, I finally have a product that not only is unique, but it is very much needed in the market place. ICRS gave me a platform to introduce and share His Kids United to retailers and media alike. Opportunities like this are rare and I’m grateful to have had the privilege to meet so many outstanding people of faith this week.”
ICRS brings together attendees and exhibitors from the United States and more than 50 countries. The most recent show was held June 22-25 at the Georgia Congress Center.
His Kids United has released Volume 1 and Volume 1 (Stereothief Remix) to-date. A Christmas release is scheduled for October. His Kids United CDs are distributed by INgrooves and Capitol Christian Distribution through major retailers, including Amazon, Family Christian Stores, iTunes, Lifeway, Mardel Christian Stores and Walmart.
