Track: Create In Me A Clean Heart
Album: Donnie McClurkin… Again

“Create in me a clean heart and purify me, purify me. Create in me a clean heart so I may worship Thee…”

This song came to me at church on Sunday as the message was drawing to a close. The message was about being like Christ rather than being like the traditions and people we are surrounded by.
In being like Christ we can and are often tested but through these tests and trials we must remember that God is always with us. He sees everything we are going through. These tests and trials will be the making of us and like the purification of silver and gold, we too will be refined. “He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; He will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness…” (Malachi 3:3).

Just as a silversmith will sit and watch his piece of silver turn from its original state into its purified and desired state, so will the Lord sit and watch over us until we are as He desires us to be. And just as a silversmith will burn the impurities from the silver by placing it in the middle of the fire, so will our impurities will be made clean with God at the helm.
“Cast me not away from thy presence; please don’t take your spirit from me. And restore the joy of salvation so that I may worship Thee…”

In time we will become more like Him and He will be with us every step of the way. “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me.” (Psalm 51:10-12)

God is with us and God is for us and despite the process of heat we will go through, our purification will come.
Remember, the silversmith knows the refinement is complete when he can see his face reflected in the silver so, when God can see His face in us; our refinement will then be complete.
I pray that you will use Christ as your example and aim to be more like Him with each given day.
Let your request to the Lord be “create in me a clean heart and purify me.”
May you gain strength in the knowledge that just as the silver is purified and made better than before, you too can be purified and be a better person through Jesus Christ.
