Dove Award-nominated singer/songwriter Andrew Greer and special guests debuted selections from his latest recording, Angel Band: The Christmas Sessions, at a recent luncheon for media and industry VIPs. Praised by critics and fans alike, Angel Band: The Christmas Sessions is highlighted by collaborations with some of the top names in Americana and Gospel music. The project reached #10 on iTunes’ Singer/Songwriter chart following its release last month and features three original songs as well as new folk/acoustic-inspired arrangements of eight traditional selections. Worship Leader magazine lauds Greer’s collaboration with The McCrary Sisters as “…the most evocative and captivating version of ‘The Little Drummer Boy’ ever…” while noting “‘My Troubles’ co-written with Kyle Buchanan is Greer at his dimensional and paradoxical best.”
CCMMagazine.com says, “His richly passionate vocals are just as capable of volleying with the tender Sandi Patty (‘Ave Maria’) or the earthy Cindy Morgan (‘A Cradle in Bethlehem’) as they are hitting a soulful stride next to The McCrary Sisters (‘The Little Drummer Boy’), all while individually earning titles of master interpreter and emotive originator.”
Greer is showcasing selections from the recording across the country this season during the Angel Band Christmas Tour, presented by Food For the Hungry and Under the Radar. Later this month he will be among a line-up of noteworthy guests on a Christmas edition of Trinity Broadcasting Network’s “Praise The Lord,” hosted by Jason Crabb. The program is also slated to feature The Fairfield Four, The McCrary Sisters and John Schlitt, among others.
An acclaimed singer/songwriter and respected music journalist, Andrew Greer is a 2013 GMA Dove Award nominee for Instrumental Album of the Year for All Things Bright & Beautiful: Hymns for the Seasons. The collection, which he produced and arranged, spent 25 weeks atop Nielsen Christian SoundScan’s Instrumental chart. Greer created the innovative Hymns for Hunger Tour, along with singer/songwriter Cindy Morgan, which helps raise awareness and resources for hunger relief organizations around the country. His sophomore recording, 2012’s critically-praisedAngel Band: The Hymn Sessions, reached #2 on Amazon’s Hot New Releases in Contemporary Folk chart and showcases collaborations with some of the top names in bluegrass, Gospel and Christian music.
